I note the proposed school aimed for education in Spanish/English but not French or Haitian Creole, the national languages of Haiti. If there were any plans for any of the children to return to Haiti those would be obvious choices.

I love that they decided to go with a seaside villa.I'd hate to adopt a child and not be able to enjoy a pina colada with ocean view sunset. Perhaps they could add a cruise line experience where after they do the 90 day mission work for Jesus they could take a little vacation with their new child.

Actually, I'm coming up with 11 from the D.R. to the U.S. for '09. (see <a href="http://adoption.state.gov/news/StarCountryData.php?country=Dominican Republic" rel="nofollow">the State Department country by country listing for the D.R.</a>)

Where are you finding the higher number?

if they found the residency requirement for the DR, which processed all of 18 US adoptions last year, they were a click away from the required travel consent forms needed to bring these children into the country. Hint: the consent form has to be signed by a living parent and a driver's license for the Haitian parent provided.

I wish people would stop using God as an excuse for their need for an outlet for their extreme narcissism. I cannot believe the complete disrespect for the original parents, culture, and country of these children that anyone would think it was "OK" to just take them and walk off with them.

If the U.S., IMF and various other countries wouldn't have spent so many hundreds of years (collectively) oppressing and exploiting the Hatians, they might have been better able to manage his catastrophe on their own--including protecting themselves from these "child saviors." The exploitation of these people, especially in the name of God, is sickening.

Clearly they knew at least a little bit about the <a href="http://www.la-republique-dominicaine.org/Dominican-Republic-adoption.html" rel="nofollow">Dominican Republic adoption requirements</a>, the residency requirement and the importance of age 12.
