Carol hit upon exactly my thought- that the "Day without adoption" bit is something that really does almost require being thought up 'somewhere else'.

The US mentality is so deeply caught up in adoption as ALWAYS a positive that to even question it is unthinkable.

So yes, there was absolutely a reason I created this juxtoposition ("Birthmother's day" and "A Day Without Adoption".)

ADWA is indeed forward thinking. I thought the street theater was actually pretty articulate, bringing many issues together coherently.

As the blurb about the picture made clear, it once again comes down to the desperate need for genuine support for mothers, particularly those without resources, adoption must not be used as some sick form of "cure" for poverty.

Thank you for this post. I wish "birth"mothers day could be changed to "A-Day-Without-Adoption Day". A day without adoption, what forward thinking. I wonder how that would go over in the US? Hmmm, probably not.

Right on!

I abhor prefixes like "birth" or originsal or first. We are MOTHERS.

"Btrhmothers" day is held in NYC be an adoption agency!
